The Villanova Wildcats have some catching up to do to make it back to the Top 25. They can begin with the game against the Seton Hall Pirates at home this Tuesday, which would be the Wildcats’ first game in almost a month. But can the Pirates capitalize on a probably rusty Wildcats team?

Betting on the Seton Hall Pirates (odds)
Record: 9-5 Overall / 6-2 Conference
Seton Hall struggled mightily in an 89-53 road loss to the Creighton Bluejays on Jan. 6, but recovered right away by defeating the DePaul Blue Demons at home last Saturday, 76-68. The Pirates are 4-1 straight up in their last five games, going 3-2 against the spread over that stretch. Jared Rhoden led the way for the Pirates in the win over DePaul, scoring 18 points to go with six rebounds and two assists. Meanwhile, Sandro Mamukelashvili had 15 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Rhoden and Mamukelashvili are being heavily relied upon by Seton Hall to deliver every game along with Myles Cale. Seton Hall is an experienced team with plenty of seniors and juniors up and down the roster. In addition, the Pirates are 18th in terms of experience, per KenPom. Seton Hall is also a huge team, as it is third nationally in average height (79.2 inches). The Pirates will have to use that size in crashing the boards against Villanova and bothering the shots of the Wildcats.
Seton Hall, which is averaging 74.9 points per game, is 7-3 against the spread in its last 10 contests overall.
Betting on the Villanova Wildcats (odds)
Record: 8-1 Overall / 3-0 Conference
Villanova is all set to return to action after nearly a month of absence due to COVID-19-related issues. In their last time on the court, the Wildcats defeated the Marquette Golden Eagles on the road on Dec. 23, 85-68. That’s Villanova’s sixth game in a row, a stretch that also includes wins over the likes of the Texas Longhorns and Butler Bulldogs. Villanova is relying on its high-octane offense that is currently 26th in the nation with 80.1 points per game average. Villanova’s outside shooters have been excellent in stretching the floor for the team. The Wildcats are drilling 10.3 3-pointers per game and are shooting 56.0 percent inside the arc. Against Marquette, Villanova shot 13 of 33 from deep. That outside sniping spells trouble for Seton hall, which appears to struggle in defending shooters. The Pirates are just 271st in the nation with opponents hitting 36.4 percent of their attempts from long range.
The over is 2-0 in Villanova’s last two games.
Writer’s Prediction
Villanova wins, 75-68.
