Betting on the Tennessee Voleenteers (18-6)

The Vols have a middling offense, but their defense is one of the most ferociously effective ones in the SEC. Tennessee is allowing just 67.2 points per game, and its opponents are just converting 41.4 percent of their shots from the field. The Vols boast of a defense that averages 6.8 steals and 4.9 block per game, while their opponents commit 14.7 turnovers.

Grant Williams is the teams best player, as the forward is averaging a team-best 15.9 points per game, but he also does a lot on the other end of the floor, making 0.6 steals and 1.3 block pr game. Junior big man Kyle Alexander, meanwhile, is an intimidating presence in the middle. He is swatting away 1.9 shots per game. He recently had four blocks in a dominant 94-61 home win over Ole Miss on Feb. 3.

Tennessee is 3-1 SU and ATS in its last four road games.

Betting on the Georgia Bulldogs (13-11)

Georgia does not score plenty of points. The Bulldogs are not going to scare teams because of their ability to rack up points in a hurry, as they are averaging only 68.4 points per game, but their defense are almost identical to that of Tennessee, Georgia is allowing just 67.2 points per game, and holds opponents to a poor 40.2 field goal shooting percentage.

Yante Maten is going to be a problem for the Vols, as the senior forward can do a lot of things on the court. Maten leads the Bulldogs in points (19.4) and rebounds (8.7) per game, while shooting 47.8 percent from the floor. On top of those, Maten averages 1.3 blocks per game. He’s going to need help against the sturdy defense of Tennessee, though. Outside of Maten, no other Bulldog scores in double digits per game. William Jackson is second on the team with 9.1 points, while Juwan Parker is chipping in only 8.7 points.

Georgia is 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS in its last four home games against the Volunteers.

Writer’s Prediction:

Tennessee wins, 72-69.
