Betting on the Citadel Bulldogs (1-4 Overall Record)
God bless the Bulldogs. We would be lying if he say that Citadel has a shot at beating Alabama. Unless the NCAA allows Citadel to carry hammers and sharp objects, there’s no way that program is going to beat Alabama. But let’s go ahead and talk about some things about the Bulldogs. They are coming off a 42-27 win at home over the Samford Bulldogs. In that game, Citadel quarterback Brandon Rainey had 88 passing yards with a touchdown on 5-of-7 completions, though, his measly production in the air was largely because he opted to use his legs more. Rainey paced his team with 206 rushing yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. Meanwhile, running back Lorenzo Ward had 88 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns on 18 carries. Ward leads Citadel this season with 669 rushing yards with seven trips to the end zone. As a team, Citadel is averaging 382 total yards and 29 points per contest.
Citadel is 3-1 SU in their last four games.
Betting on the Alabama Crimson Tide (10-0 Overall / 7-0 Conference)
After back-to-back games and wins against ranked opponents, the Crimson Tide are going to have a match they’d probably win even with their eyes closes and their hands tied. The last time Alabama was on the field, it turned No. 16 Mississippi State Bulldogs into a pulp in a 24-0 win. Prior to that, the Crimson Tide thrashed then-No. 3 LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge to the tune of a 24-0 victory. Again, Alabama has held their last two opponents – both ranked –scoreless, so it’s going to take a miracle of biblical proportion for Citadel to pull off a win that would definitely go down in history as the biggest upset win in college football. Alabama shouldn’t take any opponent lightly. It’s the prudent thing to do. That said, the Crimson Tide could be forgiven if they’re already looking forward to their next assignment beyond the Citadel game.
Alabama, which is third in the nation with 48.6 points per game and tops with 12.7 points allowed per contest, is 4-2 ATS in its last six home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Alabama beats the breaks off of Citadel in a 60-3 win.
