Villanova doubled down on its mastery of the Marquette Golden Eagles, as the Wildcats won these two teams’ showdown at home last Wednesday, 96-64. Villanova was not going to lose with the kind of shooting it showed in that game, The Wildcats shot 63.0 percent from the floor and hit 13 of 22 attempts from deep. They have been incredible on their long-range shots this season and especially of late. Villanova has buried an average of 11.0 threes on 44.0 percent shooting over its last four games, during which the Wildcats also put up 79.8 points. Villanova boasts a sensational offense that is ranked first in the Big 12 in adjusted offensive efficiency rating (119.4) and 26th in the nation in scoring (79.1 points per game). At the same time, Villanova is third in the conference with 67.4 points allowed per game.
Villanova is 4-1 against the spread in its last five road games.
Betting on the Creighton Bluejays (odds)
Record: 15-5 Overall / 11-4 Conference
Creighton also defeated the Golden Eagles on Feb. 6, 71-68, on the road before beating the Georgetown Bulldogs, also on the road, on Feb. 9, 63-48. Creighton went 1-1 against the spread in those games, as they covered as 7.5 road favorites in the Georgetown game. The totals in those two games also hit the under. Credit goes to the Bluejays’ defense in those set of victories. The Bluejays held Marquette and Georgetown to just a combined 46.2 percent shooting from the floor and a horrible 28.6 percent shooting from behind the arc. Creighton’s perimeter defense will be heavily tested by Villanova, but the Bluejays are confident in their ability to get in the face of opposing shooters. Creighton is 32nd in the nation with opponents owning just a 40.2 field goal percentage. The Bluejays will have to put a bit more pressure on Villanova, considering that the Wildcats don’t turn the ball over a lot. Creighton is third in the conference with a 10.1 steal percentage.
The under is 3-1 in Creighton’s last four games overall.
