The 6-7 Washington Redskins () may still be in the running for a playoffs spot, but they’re a boat that’s rapidly sinking. That (+100,000 to win AFC) said, the important thing for them is, again, that they are still in the hunt for a schedule beyond Week 17. The same can’t be said about the 4-9 Jacksonville Jaguars, who are no longer in playoff contention. But can the Jags deal a heavy blow to the playoff dreams of the Redskins?

Betting on the Washington Redskins (6-7)
How low can Mark Sanchez’s career in the NFL get? Sanchez was so bad in last week’s 40-16 home loss to the New York Giants that he got replaced and outplayed by a dude who was supposed to play in a pro league barely anyone has heard of or cared about. That’s Josh Johnson, who made a successful return to the NFL by completing 11-of-16 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown with an interception against the Giants. His performance wasn’t jaw-dropping but it was good enough for the Redskins to name him their starter in the date with Jacksonville. Johnson, however, may not have the best weapons available for him, as tight end Jordan Reed and wide receiver Josh Doctson are deemed questionable to play. Running back Adrian Peterson will look to bounce back after recording only 16 yards on 10 carries against the Giants. He can draw some optimism from the fact that the Jaguars got mercilessly torched by Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry last week.
The under is 3-1 in the Redskins’ last four road games.
Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-9)
This is a lost season for the Jaguars, whose play on the field has spectacularly failed to match the preseason bombast of star cornerback Jaylen Ramsey. They have lost their last four games and are coming off an embarrassing 30-9 road loss to the Tennessee Titans. Perhaps it’s more interesting to see what happens with the quarterback position in Jacksonville, as it has been reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network that the Jaguars are looking to move on from Blake Bortles, who may have seen his last gig as a starter for the team. The Jags have yet to announce their starter for Week 15, but it’s likely that Cody Kessler get the starting duties again. Kessler passed for 240 yards (25/43) with a touchdown and zero interceptions in the Titans game. The Jaguars can capitalize on the Redskins’ regressing defense. Washington is allowing 22.8 points per game on the season, but the Redskins’ last three opponents have averaged 33.0 points against them.
The Jaguars are 2-1-1 ATS in their last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Jacksonville wins, 26-21.
