Well, ever since Dak Prescott was named the official and unanimous Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback just a few days ago, the talk has been stirring around Tony Romo. Romo was the top dog in Dallas for years, bringing them to the playoffs on numerous occasions and even repping the Lone Star state four times at the Pro Bowl in Honolulu, Miami and Arizona.
Now that the Dallas dream seems to be at an end for the veteran quarterback, we take a look at the next possible suitor for the big Italian.
Where Will Tony Romo Play Next Season – Dallas Cowboys Prop Betting Lines, Odds and Picks
Dallas Cowboys (+200)
The obvious choice would be he remains a Cowboy. Dak Prescott is showing quite a bit of promise at QB but this could be a great thing for a possible off-season exchange. With his stock sky high, it’d be a perfect time to move him to another team in exchange for some defensive help. Also, with the emergence of Ezekiel Elliott, the need for a mobile QB is decreasing by the day. On the other hand, you could also keep Romo as a solid backup and mentor for the young Prescott. Two excellent and viable options.
Denver Broncos (+250)
Should Tony get moved, our money is on the Broncos. Denver sat atop the AFC West for quite a while, but it was never convincing. Trevor Siemian is not the QB the team was hoping he’d be. His inaccuracies have put a lot of pressure on the defense and Paxton Lynch’s progression has also been slower than originally hoped. Romo would be a welcome addition to mentor and train Lynch (the likely future QB in Denver), while helping keep the team in the playoff hunt. He’s still effective and could give the Broncos a nice veteran presence under center – something that truly spurred that team just one year ago.
Arizona Cardinals (+300)
Carson Palmer is looking like he’s nearing the end of his career. His arm isn’t what it used to be and his body is falling apart. The Cardinals have loaded up on excellent receivers and have one of the best young running backs in the game in David Johnson. That offense should be absolutely electric but it’s been a slow burn with Palmer at the helm. Romo would give that team a shot in the arm for the next year or two and would also bring a deep ball element to the desert – something that wide out core absolutely craves.
Chicago Bears (+1,000)
As long as it’s not Jay Cutler, Bears fans would welcome the presence of any new quarterback. The Cutler experiment, that’s lasted for nearly a decade, hasn’t worked. It’s time to move on…finally. Tony Romo would bring their veteran receiving core a deep ball threat and really couldn’t be any more inaccurate that Cutler. The QB position isn’t the last of the Bears troubles but it’d definitely be a huge help and a massive step in the right direction. If Jordan Howard can show he’s for real and Kevin White steps his game up, the Bears offense could be deadly next season with the right arm thrown into the mix.
