Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (7-7)

Jason Garrett can sleep a whole lot better this week after the Cowboys scored a huge 44-21 won over the Los Angeles Rams at home last Sunday. The win ended the Cowboys’ three-game losing skid and prevented the Eagles from taking solo lead in the NFC East. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott passed for 212 yards and a couple of touchdowns on 15-of-23 completions. He hurt his shoulder in the Rams game and was limited in last Wednesday’s practice according to reports, but don’t expect the former Mississippi State Bulldogs star to take a rest in an all-important meeting with the Eagles. In the Cowboys’ 37-10 home win over the Eagles, Prescott went 21 for 27 for 239 passing yards and a touchdown with an interception, while running back Ezekiel Elliott got fed a lot in the backfield, rushing for 111 yards and a score on 22 carries. The Eagles are still having problems on defense, as evidenced by the 130 receiving yards and a touchdown they allowed Washington Redskins rookie receiver Terry McLaurin to have in last week’s game. That sounds like good news for Amari Cooper, who had 106 receiving yards on just five catches in the first meeting with Philly.

The Cowboys are  4-0 against the spread (ATS) in their last four games against the Eagles.

Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (7-7)

The Eagles managed to survive the Redskins last week, eking out a 37-27 road win. Eagles QB Carson Wentz stepped up in the clutch and delivered a touchdown strike to Greg Ward Jr. that lifted the Eagles to the victory. Wentz finished with 266 passing yards and three touchdowns without an interception on 30-of-43 completions. Rookie running back Miles Sanders also had a notable performance, as he rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Sanders wasn’t much of a factor back in the loss to the Cowboys, as it was Jordan Howard who ate most of the snaps at the running back position. But with Howard missing games since Week 9 with a shoulder injury, Sanders has seen his role grow in importance to the team. Howard is unlikely to play in Week 16, so expect Sanders to test Dallas’ defense that allowed 115 rushing yards to the Eagles in Week 7.

The Eagles, who are averaging 23.9 points per game so far this season, have seen the total hit the under four times in their last six outings.

Writer’s Prediction

The Cowboys win, 31-24.
