The Seattle Seahawks have to get through the wild card round if they want to win it all this season after losing the NFC West division title to the San Francisco 49ers. Even though they have the better record, the Seahawks will have to play on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles, who topped the NFC East. The sportsbook favors the Seahawks by just 2-points, after Seattle opened up as 1.5-point favorites.

Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (11-5)
The hype heading into Weel 17 for the Seahawks all belong to running back Marshawn Lynch, who decided to reunite with his old team with Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny both done for the season due to injuries. But against the San Francisco 49ers, it was Travis Homer who led the team on the ground, rushing for 62 yards on 10 carries in a 26-21 home loss. Lynch still made his mark by scoring a touchdown, but only had 34 rushing yards on 12 carries. Perhaps, it’s just the rust that mostly limited Beastmode in that game, so another week of practice should have him perform better against the Eagles. Philly, however, boasts of a stout run defense that it would behoove the Seahawks to turn to their passing attack against the Eagles’ filled-with-holes secondary that just gave up over 300 passing yards in Week 17 to the New York Giants. Russell Wilson struggled in the first half of the Niners game, but got hot in the final two quarters, finishing with 233 passing yards and two touchdowns without an interception on 25-of-40 completions. Rookie wideout DK Metcalf, who led the team with 81 receiving yards and a touchdown, has the size and mobility to pose headaches for the Eagles’ pass defense.
The Seahawks are 6-3-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 road games.
Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (9-7)
Thanks to a relatively soft schedule and the Dallas Cowboys fumbling their own fate, the Eagles were able to clinch the NFC East division title and a ticket to the playoffs — plus a home-field advantage in the wild card round. The Eagles have won all of their last four games: two against the New York Giants, and one each over the Washington Redskins and the Cowboys. Even with that run of success over non-playoff teams, the Eagles deserved to be credited, especially quarterback Carson Wentz, who has been dealing with a banged-up receiving corps for the most part of the season. In their 34-17 road win over the Giants in Week 17, Wentz’s top receiver was running back Boston Scott, who caught four balls for 84 yards, while tight end Dallas Goedert had 64 receiving yards on four catches. Wentz and the Eagles are hoping that star tight end Zach Ertz will have the green light to play in the wild card game after skipping Week 17 with a rib issue. Wentz has thrown seven touchdowns and zero interceptions over the last four games.
The Eagles are 3-0 ATS in their last three games.
Writer’s Prediction
