Betting on the Florida State Seminoles (23-4 Overall / 13-3 Conference)
The Seminoles did not allow the NC State Wolfpack to score back-to-back huge upset wins, as Florida State defeated Kevin Keatts’ team in Raleigh last Saturday, 67-61. The Noles were actually down at the half of that game but were composed and talented enough to overcome the deficit in the final 20 minutes of the contest. Florida State struggled on offense, shooting just 40.7 percent from the field, but the Noles also held the Wolfpack down to just 41.1 percent from the field and outrebounded NC State, 39-34. Florida State shot way better in their 72-53 home win over the Tigers back in December when the Noles lost their mind from deep. The Seminoles uncorked 15 threes on 32 attempts while holding Clemson to only 35.8 percent shooting from the floor. Florida State’s length and height can be a problem for opposing offenses and Clemson sure has taken notice of it after the Tigers’ offensive debacle. After all, Florida State is the tallest team in the nation.
The Seminoles are 3-0 against the spread (ATS) in their last three games away from Tallahassee.
Betting on the Clemson Tigers (14-12 Overall / 8-8 Conference)
The Tigers are gaining momentum again. After three losses in a row, they have stitched three wins together, including a 77-62 takedown of No. 5 Louisville Cardinals at home and their 82-64 crushing of the Boston College Eagles on the road this past Saturday. The apparent turnaround is mainly due to the Tigers’ offense that has improved by almost 10 points. On the season, Clemson is averaging just 67.1 points per game but has generated 77.0 over their current win streak. Furthermore, Clemson is shooting an incredible 56.5 percent from the field over its last three games. The only thing more amazing than that is the fact that there’s actually a team which has shot better than the Tigers over that same stretch, and that’s the Northern Colorado Bears (58.4%). Clemson is certainly hoping that its recent offensive form will carry over into the rematch against Florida State.
The Tigers, who are set to face Georgia Tech on the road this Monday, are 3-3 ATS in their last six home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Florida State wins, 67-63.
