Betting on the San Francisco 49ers (odds)
Regular Season Record: 2-0
Brock Purdy and Nate Sudfield led the 49ers to a 17-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on the road last Saturday. With that victory, the Niners are now 2-0 in the preseason. Purdy passed for 128 yards on 14/23 completions, while Sudfeld went 13/17 for 102 passing yards and a touchdown pass. But much of the credit for the win should also go the way of San Francisco’s defense which held the Viking to only 195 total yards and also forced three turnovers.
The Niners are 3-0 against the spread in their last three preseason games. They are 3-1 straight up too over that same stretch.
Betting on the Houston Texans (odds)
Regular Season Record: 2-0
The 49ers aren’t just the only team that remains undefeated after two games in the 2022 NFL preseason. Like San Francisco, the Texans have won both their Week 1 and 2 assignments, beating the New Orleans Saints at home, 17-13, on Aug 13 and the reigning Super Bowl champions Los Angeles Rams on Aug 19 on the road, 24-20. Davis Mills went 10/17 for 96 yards and a touchdown, and he played sweet music with fellow second-year pro Nico Collins, who caught that touchdown and had 48 yards on four total receptions. Houston’s defense also flashed its sharp fangs with six sacks that resulred in 36 lost yards for the Rams.
The Texans are 4-1 against the spread in their last five preseason games. The Under is 6-4 in their last 10 games in the preseason.
Writer’s Prediction
The 49ers win, 20-17.
