Alabama Crimson Tide vs Tennessee Volunteers Predictions, Picks, Odds, and NCAA Football Betting Preview | October 15 2022

The Alabama Crimson Tide are still the No. 1 team in the nation even though they did not look as dominant as they have always been in their 24-20 win over the Texas A&M Aggies Saturday. Nevertheless, they are still undefeated heading into a marquee showdown with the also-still unbeaten Tennessee Volunteers, who just whopped the LSU Tigers in Week 6 on the road, 40-13. Will Alabama continue its undefeated run? Or will Tennessee be the first to upend the Crimson Tide? Check out our preview of this Alabama vs Tennessee game in Week 7 of the 2022 college football season.

Betting on the Alabama Crimson Tide (-7.5)

Record: 6-0 Overall / 3-0 Conference

Alabama operated without quarterback Bryce Young in the Texas A&M game and that was very much evident by the relatively slim scoring margin with which the Crimson Tide won that contest. Jalen Milroe started in place for Young and went just 12/19 for 111 yards, though he had three touchdowns against an interception. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs, meanwhile, rushed for 154 yards on 21 carries. Alabama is always going to be a huge threat in large part because of its depth, including on defense. Speaking of which, the Crimson Tide entered the Texas A&M game ranked fifth in the nation with just 12.5 points allowed per contest. It would be best for Alabama if Young returns healthy in Week 7, but Milroe having more confidence can also spell trouble for Tennessee.

Alabama is 3-1 against the spread in its last four games overall.

Betting on the Tennessee Volunteers (+7.5)

Record: 5-0 Overall / 2-0 Conference

Tennessee claimed another ranked victim over the weekend with its win against LSU. It was the third game in a row for the Vols in which they scored at least 38 points. They arrived in that game as the second-highest scoring team in the nation with 46.8 points per game and No. 1 overall with 548.0 total yards per contest. Herndon Hooker passed for 239 yards and two touchdowns without getting picked off on 17/27 completions. Making the victory even more impressive for the Vols was the fact that they did not have star wideout Cedric Tillman, though, expectations of him finally getting back on the field versus the Crimson Tide should intensify in the coming days. He will be a huge weapon for Hooker, who has thrown for 10 touchdowns and zero interceptions so far this season, while also connecting on 70% of his pass attempts.

Tennessee is 4-1 against the spread in its last four outings overall.

Writer’s Prediction

Alabama wins, 33-27.
