Betting on the New England Patriots (+3.0)
Regular Season Record: 6-4
The Patriots couldn’t get anything going on offense in last Sunday’s 10-3 win over the New York Jets, but their special teams led them to a victory with a game-winning punt return touchdown. Mac Jones finished the game with 246 passing yards with zero touchdowns and zero interceptions for the Patriots, who racked up just 297 total yards. He’s not been engineering plenty of scoring drives for New England, though, the Patriots’ defense has the ability to keep the team competitive for an entire contest. On the season, the Patriots are sixth in the league with just 18.4 points allowed per game and fourth with only 1.9 touchdowns given up per contest.
The Patriots are 3-0-1 against the spread in their last four road games.
Betting on the Minnesota Vikings (-3.0)
Regular Season Record: 8-2
Where did Minnesota’s offense go in Week 11? The Vikings, who have a deep arsenal on offense, manufactured just a field goal in their 40-3 loss last Sunday to the Dallas Cowboys. Kirk Cousins passed for just 105 yards on 12/23 completions. He was sacked seven times and also lost a fumble before getting pulled for Nick Mullens in a blowout. Still, Minnesota can only go up from here. The Vikings still have Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen, TJ Hockenson, and Dalvin Cook. They are too talented to faceplant two games in a row. Their defense struggled in Week 11, but even that should be fine against the Patriots, who turn the ball over 1.9 times per game – 30th in the NFL.
The Vikings are 3-1-1 against the spread in their last five games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
The Vikings win, 24-17.
