Animal Super Bowl Predictions and Picks 2020

Update 2021: Looking for Super Bowl 55 animal expert picks and predictions? View our 2021 edition here!

The animal kingdom in general got it wrong last year, with 6 of 8 “experts” picking the ill-fated Rams to win over the Patriots. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that bettors across America continue to let their money ride with the furry, feathery, and scaly residents of local zoos, aquariums, farms, barns, and wildlife reserves. Coincidentally or not, the call of the wild typically picks a team with a logo featuring some sort of animal (Rams, Eagles, Falcons, Panthers, Seahawks, etc.) but for the first time since 2012 the Super Bowl is without an animal on the helmet. They also often pick the underdog, but with just a 1 to 1.5-point spread (shifting in favor of Kansas City) since the line opened there is really no dark horse in Super Bowl 54. Will that make for more balanced predictions for the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs matchup in 2020? Let’s find out.

Current Animal Picks Total: 49ers 7 / Chiefs 2

Super Bowl LIV Picks and Predictions from America’s Favorite Animals

LeLe the Panda – Kansas City Chiefs

The Memphis Zoo’s panda LeLe came out of her cave, climbed up her wooden perch, and picked the Kansas City Chiefs by literally pointing to their banner, pulling it down, and cuddling up with it. Rumor has it that she has a thing for KC QB Pat Mahomes so her prediction may come with some bias, but the heart wants what the heart wants.

Jack the Shark Prognosticator – San Francisco 49ers

Cue the JAWS theme as Jack The Shark (the Prognosticator) from Miami Zoo’s SeaAquarium makes his way to pick the San Francisco 49ers. He hovered over the Bay Area’s NFL representative for quite some time, giving bettors confidence that they should take a bite out of a point spread that favors Kansas City.

Cass the Cat – San Francisco 49ers

ignore the incorrect Super Bowl LIII icon above (Cass forgot to update it)
Cass the Cat from State College PA is back and needs to redeem himself after incorrectly going with the Rams in 2019. He has a 60% success rate going into Super Bowl 54 and as long as he lays off the catnip you can put some faith in his 2020 prediction. This year the feline is feeling fine about the 49ers.

Tal the Orangutan – San Francisco 49ers

On Monday January 27, Tal, the resident orangutan at Chahinkapa Zoo in North Dakota returned to his fenced enclosure to find two footballs laying in wait. One wore the 49ers logo, the other the Chiefs. After some deliberation and wearing a “WTF?” expression on his naturally pensive face, Tal picked up San Francisco’s pigskin to deliver his pick.

Porter the Harbor Seal – Kansas City Chiefs

Moody Gardens amusement park and aquarium in Galveston took things up a notch when getting their resident harbor seal to make his Super Bowl pick, going for the best out of three. They tossed one gold football (representing the 49ers) and one red ball (representing the Chiefs) into the water to see which Porter would fetch. On two of three tries Porter picked the red ball, sealing the fate of the Kansas City Chiefs as the victor for Super Bowl 54.

Pippi, Jane, and Huck the Otters – San Francisco 49ers

Like with Moody Gardens amusement park (above) Mote Aquarium in Sarasota Florida wanted a best-of-three result to make their declaration. Tasking a trio of river otters, Pippi, Jane, and Huck with making the facility’s pick – the end result favored the 49ers over the Chiefs by a tally of 2-1.

Fiona the Hippo – San Francisco 49ers…we think

Cincinnati Zoo is home to one of the most famous Super Bowl pickers in the USA – Fiona the hippopotamus. Her record isn’t as impeccable as Ozzy the Grizzly (below), and is currently 1-1 in straight-up (SU) picks over the last two years, but the world still waited in anticipation as she walked up to the two NFL team logo-embossed floats. She was simply supposed to press her snout to one of the floats, indicating her favorite to win. Instead, she puked up some lettuce/cabbage concoction on the Kansas City Chiefs one. What the heck does that mean? Do we take it literally to mean that bettors are supposed to put their green on the Chiefs? In this writers opinion, getting puked on is a bad thing so we’ll assume that Fiona is rolling with the 49ers to win.

Harry and Lloyd Miniature Donkeys – San Francisco 49ers

Maryland Zoo’s resident donkeys are looking to make an ass of Vegas bookmakers after going against the favorite (slight favorite) and making their pick for the 49ers to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy at the end of Sunday’s game.

Racine the Pig – Pending

Vegas the Skinny Pig – Pending

Bubbles the Elephant – Pending

Sugriva the Chimp – Pending

Ishta the Tiger – Pending

Ozzy the Grizzly Bear – San Francisco 49ers

Don’t dismiss the picks from this ZooMontana resident grizzly bear. Ozzy boasts an impressive 7-1 record, and has predicted the Super Bowl winner for seven years straight. This last Friday 24, 2020 Ozzy came out of “hibernation” without hesitation and gobbled up his grape and whipped cream cake which sat atop the 49ers logo, making San Francisco a solid straight-up bet.

At press, the wild kingdom likes San Francisco with a 7-2 record in favor of the 49ers. Stay tuned for daily updates as zoo animals, popular pets, and other critters across America weigh in with their picks.
