The BC Lions’ search for their first win of the season continues. This time, they’ll look for it in Toronto, where the Argonauts await them. The Argos are also yet to break in the win column, so they will be just as thirsty for a victory as their visitors at BMO Field this coming Saturday. Despite the fact each team is winless as we enter Week 4, BC has better odds to win the 2019 Grey Cup, priced at +800 compared to the Argonauts label of +1400 to do the same. Betting on BC Lions (0-3)
The Lions remain winless through three weeks of the 2019 CFL season. They tried to get their first win last Saturday but fell short in a 36-32 loss to the Calgary Stampeders on the road. Quarterback Mike Reilly did almost everything his team asked of him to do, as he passed for 354 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions on 36-of-42 completions. He also added 21 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries. But his effort was simply not enough to offset the shortcomings of the team’s leaky defense. The Lions are last in the league so far this season with 54 total points allowed. Among all teams which have played at least two games, BC is last with 18.0 points allowed per contest. If anything, Toronto’s seemingly weak offense may not highlight as much the Lions’ faulty stop unit.
The over is 3-0 in the Lions’ last three road games.
Betting on Toronto Argonauts (0-2)
Well, like the Lions, the Argonauts are still winless. In their second and latest stab at getting a W this season, the Argonauts fell flat on their faces and lost to the Saskatchewan Roughriders to the tune of a 32-7 score on the road. As what the score suggests, the Argonauts had a difficult time doing anything relevant on both ends of the field. Their offense could hardly put together a productive drive, while their defense was like a turnstile to the Roughriders, who had 522 total yards to just 314 by Toronto. Argonauts quarterback James Franklin completed 20 of 28 passes but only had one touchdown pass with a pair of interceptions. Toronto is tied with the Lions for the worst scoring defense in the league with both teams allowing 18.0 points per game. If anything, that means the Argonauts will face the faultiest defense it will face thus far on the season, so Franklin and company will have to jump on the opportunity.
The Argonauts are 2-0 against the spread (ATS) in their last two meetings with BC.
Writer’s Prediction
