Betting on the Golden State Warriors (44-8)
The Golden State Warriors returned to winning ways Wednesday with a resounding 123-92 victory over the Chicago Bulls. Klay Thompson scored a game-high 28 points for the Warriors who avoided their first set of consecutive regular-season losses since 2015. With the victory, Golden State moved four games clear of San Antonio atop the Western Conference standings.
The Warriors will look to sustain the momentum of that huge win when they lock horns with the Memphis Grizzlies later tonight. For the Warriors to accomplish that feat, they will need to continue their excellent play on the offensive end. Golden State is tops in the NBA in scoring, averaging a whopping 118.3 points per game this season. They will have their work cut out for them, however, against a Memphis side that’s third in the NBA in scoring defense, surrendering just 99.1 points per contest.
One guy who needs to step up for the Warriors in this encounter is Kevin Durant. He averaged 24.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in two meetings with Memphis this season. Durant bounced back nicely after an atrocious performance last time out against Sacramento, posting 22 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and three steals in Wednesday’s win against the Bulls.
The Warriors are 7-3 SU and 4-6 ATS in their last 10 road games.
Betting on the Memphis Grizzlies (33-22)
There’s just no stopping Memphis right now. The Grizzlies extended their winning streak to three games with an emphatic 110-91 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night. Six players scored in double figures for Memphis, which is now a season-best 11 games over .500 . They have now won six of their last seven outings.
Leading the way for the Grizzlies in this game were Mike Conley and Marc Gasol. Conley scored a game-high 23 points while Gasol poured in 19 points and hauled in seven rebounds. Gasol’s clearly staking his claim as one of the league’s best players, averaging 20.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game this season. Key to the Grizzlies’ resurgence has been their excellent play on the defensive end. Opposing teams have scored an average of just 88 points over their last three games.
The Grizzlies will look to stretch their unbeaten run even further when they square off with the Golden State Warriors later tonight. They will fancy their chances of doing just that as they have fared extremely well against the Warriors of late. The Grizzlies are 2-0 against Golden State this season, including a thrilling 128-119 overtime victory on the road on January 6. Memphis battled back from a gargantuan 24-point second half deficit in that game as they survived a 40-point performance by Curry.
The Grizzlies are 7-3 SU and 6-4 ATS in their last 10 home games.
