The Kansas City Chiefs don’t have the rights to relax,as they sit precariously atop the AFC West, just half a game ahead of the Oakland Raiders. They can keep their heads above water with a win over the Los Angeles Chargers, who are looking to avoid damaging further their playoff chances. The Chiefs and the Chargers are +1400 and +10000 to win Super Bowl 54, respectively.

Betting on the Kansas City Chiefs (6-4)
Even with Patrick Mahomes returning to action last Sunday, the Chiefs still couldn’t avoid losing to the Tennessee Titans on the road, 35-32. The loss was an indictment to the Chiefs’ defense that is not doing the team any favors by being sloppy. The 32 points they put up should have been enough to beat a Titans team, but the run defense of Kansas City looked like it wasn’t interested in winning the game, giving up 188 rushing yards and two rushing scores to Derrick Henry. In any case, the Chiefs will always be a threat largely because of Mahomes and their offense. The Chiefs are fifth in the league with 28.4 points per game and third overall with 404.7 total yards per contest. Mahomes had 446 passing yards and three touchdowns without an interception in the loss to the Titans.
The over is 3-0 in the Chiefs’ last three games.
Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (4-6)
Philip Rivers couldn’t stop himself from throwing interceptions in last week’s 26-24 road loss to the Oakland Raiders. Rivers passed for 207 yards and two touchdowns with three interceptions on 17-of-31 completions. Rivers mostly wasted Melvin Gordon’s efforts in the ground attack. Gordon had 108 rushing yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. Having seen how Henry decimated the Chiefs’ defense, Gordon must be excited to see what he can do against Kansas City. Going back to Rivers, the quarterback also needs to get better protection from his offensive line. He was sacked five times for a loss of 38 yards in the Raiders game. The Chargers’ defense, meanwhile, can’t be blamed for all the 26 points LA gave up to the Raiders, as Oakland’s defense scored two touchdowns off of the Chargers’ turnovers.
The Chargers, who are eight in the league with 19.4 points allowed per game are 2-1 ATS in their last three games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Chiefs win, 27-21.
