College Football News and Previews

2017-2018 NCAA Football Schedule Key Dates

Week 1

  • Michigan vs. Florida (Sept. 2, 3:30 PM ET)
  • Florida State vs. Alabama (Sept. 2, 8:00 PM ET)
  • Texas A&M vs. UCLA (Sept. 3, 7:30 PM ET)

Week 1 of the college football season kicks off with a bang thanks to not one, but two massive matchups between college football blue bloods. Michigan and Florida get things rolling on Saturday afternoon, while Alabama and Florida State – No. 1 and No. 3 in the preseason AP poll – meet on primetime. An interesting Pac-12 vs. SEC matchup between UCLA and Texas A&M is also set for Sunday of that week.

Week 2

  • Auburn vs. Clemson (Sept. 9, 7:00 PM ET)
  • Oklahoma vs. Ohio State (Sept. 9, 7:30 PM ET)
  • Stanford vs. USC (Sept. 9, 8:30 PM ET)

Not to be outdone, Week 2 also features some awesome matchups, most notably No. 2 Ohio State hosting No. 8 Oklahoma. Meanwhile, No. 4 USC has its first big test of the season against Stanford, and defending champion Clemson takes on Auburn.

Week 3

  • Clemson vs. Louisville (Sept. 16, 3:30)
  • Texas vs. USC (Sept. 16, 8:30)
  • Florida vs. Tennessee (Sept. 16, 3:30)

Louisville’s campaign was derailed last season by a loss to Clemson, and reigning Heisman winner Lamar Jackson will be primed for revenge when they meet in Week 3. Meanwhile, Texas and USC renew hostilities as they meet for the very first time since that legendary Rose Bowl game in 2006.

Week 4

  • UCLA vs. Stanford (Sept. 23)
  • Oklahoma vs. Baylor (Sept. 23)
  • Notre Dame vs. Michigan State (Sept. 23)

Week 4 doesn’t have a ton of absolutely awesome games, but there are a couple of interesting conference matchups on tap with UCLA-Stanford and Oklahoma-Baylor.

Week 5

  • USC vs. Washington State (Sept. 29, 10:30 PM ET)
  • Georgia vs. Tennessee (Sept. 30)
  • Ole Miss vs. Alabama (Sept. 30)

USC faces arguably its toughest road game of the season when the Trojans visit Pullman to face Washington State. And in the SEC, Alabama will square off with bogey team Ole Miss in Tuscaloosa.

Week 6

  • LSU vs. Florida (Oct. 7)
  • Kansas State vs. Texas (Oct. 7)
  • Michigan State vs. Michigan (Oct. 7)

A couple of rivalries will take centerstage in Week 6 and shouldn’t be missed. LSU and Florida do battle down south, while Michigan hosts state rivals Michigan State in Ann Arbor.

Week 7

  • Oklahoma vs. Texas (Oct. 14)
  • Arkansas vs. Alabama (Oct. 14)
  • Auburn vs. LSU (Oct. 14)

The Red River Shootout is easily the biggest game of Week 7. Oklahoma is easily the class of the Big 12, but Texas usually plays them very tough so the Sooners should once again have their hands full with the Longhorns.

Week 8

  • Louisville vs. Florida State (Oct. 21)
  • Michigan vs. Penn State (Oct. 21)
  • USC vs. Notre Dame (Oct. 21)

A couple of big games between division foes are in store in Week 8. Louisville and Florida State do battle as they jockey for position in the ACC-Atlantic. The Noles will have revenge on their minds after Lamar Jackson destroyed them last season. Meanwhile, Michigan and Penn State duke it out in the Big Ten-West, with the winner likely getting the upper hand for second place behind Ohio State.

Week 9

  • Penn State vs. Ohio State (Oct. 28)
  • UCLA vs. Washington (Oct. 28)
  • Georgia vs. Florida (Oct. 28)

There are big games in the Big Ten, Pac-12, and SEC in Week 9. Penn State has a tough task of going to Columbus to face Ohio State on the heels of facing Michigan. UCLA takes on a very talented Washington. And the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party starts up again when rivals Georgia and Florida slug it out.

Week 10

  • LSU vs. Alabama (Nov. 4)
  • Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State (Nov. 4)
  • Auburn vs. Texas A&M (Nov. 4)

There’s a good chance Bedlam between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State is a preview of this year’s Big 12 championship game. But it could still rest on the result of their Week 10 meeting. Meanwhile, the other marquee rivaly game of Week 10 takes place in Tuscaloosa, when Alabama welcomes old foe LSU.

Week 11

  • Washington vs. Stanford (Nov. 10)
  • Florida State vs. Clemson (Nov. 11)
  • Auburn vs. Georgia (Nov. 11)

Washington and Stanford open up Week 11 with an intriguing Friday night matchup. Then on Saturday, FSU and Clemson clash in another huge matchup with major Atlantic Division ramifications.

Week 12

  • Michigan vs. Wisconsin (Nov. 18)
  • Kansas State vs. Oklahoma State (Nov. 18)
  • UCLA vs. USC (Nov. 18)
  • Navy vs. Notre Dame (Nov. 18, 3:30 PM ET)

The Victory Bell will once again be up for grabs as famous Los Angeles rivals UCLA and USC collide at the Rose Bowl. Meanwhile, Navy and Notre Dame also resume their rivalry with the Irish looking to avenge their first loss to the Midshipmen in this decade last season.

Week 13

  • Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State (Nov. 23, 7:30 PM ET)
  • Ohio State vs. Michigan (Nov. 25, 12:00 PM ET)
  • Alabama vs. Auburn (Nov. 25)
  • Florida State vs. Florida (Nov. 25)

Just about every game is big and has a lot on the line during Rivalry Week. This year’s edition kicks off on Thursday with the Egg Bowl between Ole Miss and Mississippi State. But of course, the main attractions are still The Game (OSU-Michigan) and the Iron Bowl (Alabama-Auburn), which could also have huge College Football Playoff ramifications.
